The market’s getting the pullback it needs to head higher. Futures dropped afterhours on ORCL earnings news. I’m watching stocks that have been strong, to see how they handle the drop. I held some QID overnight.

Gold and silver stocks have been bouncing after the XAU dropped violently from 209 to 168 in just five days. That’s almost 20%. This bounce is heading into moving averages that are now pointing down on the daily chart.

V-type bottoms usually don’t hold. PAAS - Pan American Silver Corp. is setting up with that type of pattern. I started a short position in the stock at 40.25 with a new technique I’m playing with. Stop is one point. It’s best to wait for these to put in sell signals with lower highs before getting too aggressive. They may just drift fom here a while too.

The market took a needed rest today after a strong move higher the past five trading days. Take a look at the Nasdaq weekly chart. Would you expect it to head much higher without consolidating, or pulling back a few days? We’re at the end of the quarter, so expect possible window dressing. The safe trade would be to wait for a decent setup before getting too long here.

With that… Here’s three stocks for the trading radar, that have open air above. They need to rest first though.

GIVN Given Imaging, Ltd. looks great coming out of a 2-month base. A move above the 50dma with higher volume shows bulls taking control.

ADBE Adobe Systems Inc. also has a decent base. Note the shakeout and reversal bar with very high volume.

GILD Gilead Sciences, Inc. broke to another new high today with heavy volume. No resistance above, but needs a rest before entering.
