Sector Charts – 030710

The last few trading days are a great example why it pays to trade with the trend. You must respect resistance areas when the market is moving higher, but realize if a current trend is in play, odds are that it continues.
SPX should test recent highs.

Small caps have been on fire.

Gold index XAU is attempting [...]

Can Small Caps Continue To Lead?

Small caps have been leading. This breakout is suspect. It comes after the bulls used two days of ammo from 630 to 650.

Spooz stalling near an area that acted as prior support.

5-min entry short. Double top.

Index and Retail Charts – End of February 2010

We’ve got a battle going on between the bulls and bears here. Back to 1110 on the spooz to end the month of February; 1106 on the SPX. Basic monthly indecision.

Higher lows on the weekly chart.

A flatline 50dma on the SPX daily. It’s still a hit and run environment with no trend intact.

Looking for Short Entries – 022410

The market’s bouncing hard today, after finally pulling back yesterday. I do not think this bounce will hold. Looking for intraday entry points in ETF shorts. A failed breakout on a 15min chart for example.

Charts for 022310

SPX stalled at the 50dma, and is finally pulling back.

While I’m taking some of the short ETFs, it seems there’s probably bigger bang for your buck with pure shorts.
Took TZA.

Short AEM. Has now reached 50dma.

Intraday, I’m looking for charts like GPRE. A gap up yesterday offered a clean, tradeable 5-minute chart.

Index Charts – 021710

This market has had a nice bounce. Time to look for it to stall here as major indexes near resistance points.
The semiconductor index is hitting the 50dma after a 7 day surge to the upside.

The XAU is coming into pivot resistance and the 50dma.

Small caps and the RUT have had a nice bounce to just [...]

Will Volatility Return Soon?

The market’s been battling at the spooz trendline near 1067 all week. The current range between 1057 and 1072 is currently in play. A sideways trend has me trading 15, 5 and 2 minute charts for quick plays. Until we break this range, it will stay hit and run.
Check out when the VXX was last [...]

Long Term Trendlines

Yesterday I posted some long term trendlines.
Here’s the chart I posted for the E-mini SP500. Then below, you can see how important it becomes when it fails intraday, and acts as a target late in the day.
